Pesticides are very widely and successfully used in land-based industries. Because they are potentially harmful substances, it is essential that they are handled, applied and stored by people who have received the appropriate training.
Training is a legal requirement. Use of pesticides is governed by the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 (FEPA), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH). The regulations require employers to ensure that pesticides are applied only by employees who have received appropriate training in their safe use. If you are self-employed, the regulations still apply. Courses are designed to comply with all legislative and codes of practice requirements.
There are a series of courses covering the safe use of all ATVs and Quads. These range from basic handling on level ground to more extensive use carrying loads and the use of trailed equipment. The courses are modular and certification is offered on the section completed on each course.
